This aircraft was originally owned by a flying school in the Tampa, Florida area and was used for Civilian Pilot Training (CPT). At the end of World War II, another flying school with a charter operation bought the aircraft, and it was used for charter flights. In 1953 the aircraft was sold to a gentleman from Mississippi.

In 1958 a dentist from Wisconsin purchased the wreckage of this plane. The doctor wanted to rebuild a Stearman, but his neighbor convinced him to purchase a Waco, because it was a better flying machine. The neighbor, Paul Poberezny, founder of the Experimental Aircraft Association, assisted the doctor in rebuilding the aircraft. In October 1962, the aircraft was flying again.

This aircraft  was purchased by Pat Ohlsson and is now flown by Lenny Ohlsson of Spruce Creek Fly-In, a residential airpark, located in Daytona Beach, Florida.
